La escultura de la Virgen de Tajo, que se venera en la iglesia parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Luz en Arico el Nuevo (Tenerife ), ha planteado hasta el presente serios problemas a la hora de catalogarla, debido a su temprana cronología, habiéndose formulado tantas hipótesis como erróneas atribuciones, pues se trata de una obra procedente de un taller radicado en los antiguos Países Bajos meridionales y, en concreto, en el territorio del Principado-Obispado de Lieja, donde debió de ejecutarse hacia el tercer cuarto del siglo xv o a finales de dicha centuria y cuyo importador quizá fuera el borgoñón Jorge Grimón -natural del Condado de Namur-.

The Virgen del Tajo is worshipped at the parish church Nuestra Señora de la Luz, located in Arico el Nuevo, Tenerife. Dueto its early origins, the cataloguing of this sculpture has presented several difficulties which generated as many hypotheses as wrong attributions. It seems to be a piece coming from a sculpture studio situated in the Southem Low Countries, specifically, in the Prince-Bishopric of Liége. This territory must ha ve been the place where it was made, by the third quarter or the end ofthe 15th C., and later imported by the Burgundian Jorge Grimón, bom in the County ofNamur
