    Hoy en día se puede asegurar que la consolidación de los estudios de género en la geografía internacional es un hecho muy destacable aunque se observan grandes diferencias de ritmo en este proceso según los diferentes países y regiones del mundo. La finalidad de este artículo es doble. En primer lugar quiero hacer un balance del desarrollo de esta temática a nivel internacional desde una perspectiva teórico-metodológica. Pondré un énfasis especial en aquellos conceptos y temáticas claves y también señalaré las nuevas orientaciones y problemáticas para este siglo XXI. Intentaré que este balance sea realmente “internacional” y por lo tanto que englobe también una perspectiva latina y no sólo anglosajona. En la segunda parte del artículo haré un balance de la producción científica en esta temática en España, discutiendo las diferentes aportaciones empíricas y metodológicas que se han llevado a cabo

    Nowadays it could be asserted that gender studies have been fully integrated in international Geography although at very different rates in different regions of the world. The goal of this article is twofold. In the first section I will try to present the recent developments and new trends of international gender geography focusing on the key paradigms and concepts since the 1980’s. I will try todo a really “international” state of the art introducing a Latin perspective that is usually missing in the Anglophone publications. In the last section of the article I will present a survey of the scientific production on the field in Spain since the gender approached was introduced, focusing the analysis on the different topics that have been studied as well as on the methodological contributions.
