Hidden economy in the rural regions of Bulgaria

  • Abstract Hidden economy in the rural regions of Bulgaria appears in the forro ol enterprises working for their own needs and having informal employment, like domestic (natural) farms, producing mainly for meeting personal demands with the purpose of increasing the income and improving the welfare of the households. The natural income of the Bulgarian households represents between 20% and 25% ol their total income. The current article deals with the notion of "hidden economy" and its componente, size, factors beneath, and socioeconomic consequences. Differenl forms and tendencies in the development of hidden economy in the rural regions ol Bulgaria are also considered.
