El trabajo se centra en el tratamiento que realizan de la formación de palabras Nebrija, en su Gramática Castellana (1492), y Oliveira, en su Gramática da linguagem portuguesa (1536). En los dos casos nos enfrentamos a los textos que inauguran la historia de la gramática de sus respectivas lenguas. Ambos tratados abordan la reflexión teórica y elaboran un cuerpo de doctrina que se ha intentado vincular. En esta cuestión, plantean, sin embargo, puntos de referencia diversos, como corresponde a las distintas influencias de las que se hacen eco.

The main of this anide is to study the approach to the topic of word formation in Nebrija's Gramática Castellana (1492) and Olivera's Gramática da knguagen portuguesa (1536), texts that mark the beginning of the history of grammar in both languages. Both works tackle the issue of theoretical thought and produce a body of doctrine that some scholars have tried to relate. But their points of reference are as different as the infuences they show.
