Melchor Campos García exposes how over the times, historiographic versions about the guerra de Castas (war of Castes) in 1847 have changed to adjust to the context of the time they were told. Especially describes the vision the priest Crescencio Carrillo y Ancona had about the conflict during the Second Empire and the Porfiriat in Yucatán. He wanted to defend the Church from the anticlerical policy of the liberals, whom he considered guilty of the Civil War and the rising of the Mayan indigenous.
