There are many possible classifications for the philosophical thought in Africa. The first one simply distinguished between ethnophilosophy and critical philosophy. In this article, the proposals of the main authors in the critical school are examined. They talk about a professional philosophy based on reason and discourse;
that is, on the conceptualization from the African experience at present. In contrast to the ethnophilosophical school, these authors defend that there is no philosophy without explicit, analytical, radically critical and self-critical, systemic and experience-related reflection.
Hi ha moltes classificacions possibles del pensament filosòfic elaborat a Àfrica. La primera que es va elaborar, però, distingia simplement entre l'etnofilosofia i la filosofia crítica. En aquest article, s'examinen les propostes dels principals autors de l'escola crítica, que parlen d'una filosofia professional basada en la raó i el discurs; és a dir, en la conceptualització a partir de l'experiència africana pròpia del moment present. Davant de l'escola etnofilosòfica, aquests autors defensen que no hi ha filosofia sense reflexió explícita, analítica, radicalment crítica i autocrítica, sistemàtica i referida a l'experiència.
