Resumen de Restauração, Turismo e Valorização de Produtos Agro-alimentares Locais: o Caso do Espaço Transfronteiriço do Douro-Duero

  The paper is based upon the results of research developed in the frame of an INTERREG IIIA Project on small-scale agricultural productions and local development in the Douro-Duero region of Portugal and Spain, involving researchers from the Universities of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and Salamanca. The paper reflects the results of survey and observation work looking at the roles of restau-rants, the importance of local fairs and markets, and the interest of visitors and tourists in local quality agrifood products. The following major conclusions are presented: local shops have little interest in acquiring these products directly from farmers; traditional gastronomy is a privileged way of promoting the valorisation of local quality agrifood products; tourism in the area has potential but it still quite inci-pient, but visitors and tourists look to buy these products

  A comunicação tem por base resultados obtidos no âmbito de trabalho de investigação sobre pequena agricultura e desenvolvimento local no espaço transfronteiriço do Douro-Duero, realizado por investigadores das Universidades de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro e Salamanca no quadro de um Projecto INTERREG IIIA. Recorreu-se à metodologia de inquirição e observação para conhecer o papel da distribuição e restauração na valorização dos produtos agro-alimentares locais, assim como o interesse de visitantes e turistas pelos mesmos. Algumas conclusões podem ser avançadas: a distribuição retalhista revela fraco interesse na compra directa aos produtores de produtos agrícolas locais; a gastronomia é uma forma privilegiada de valorização local dos produtos do território; e o turismo é ainda incipiente, todavia, os visitantes deste território procuram os produtos típicos �do local�.
