Este artículo analiza el sistema de legislación vigente en las ONG dentro de la Unión Europea; estas son consideradas como organizaciones privadas, voluntarias e independientes. En primer lugar se analiza el papel y los diferentes tipos de ONG teniendo en cuenta las diferencias entre los Estados miembro y el hecho de que no hay una dirección única en la legislación de las ONG. En segundo lugar, se considera el reconocimiento de una personalidad jurídica y la igualdad de trato de la ONG. Más adelante, el artículo hace referencia a aspectos específicos de la legalidad de la ONG en once países europeos (formas legales y objetivos; creación y registro; y supervisión externa). El artículo concluye haciendo especial hincapié en la diversidad actual y en las dificultades para unificar el mapa jurídico de las ONG.

This article analyzes present legislation system on NGOs within the European Union; these are considered as private, voluntary and sef-governing organizations. It is analyzed first the role and types of NGOs organizations taking into account the differences between countries members and the fact that there is not harmonizing direction related to the law on ONGs. Second, the recognition of the legal personality and equal treatment of NGOs is also considered. After, the paper considers some specific aspects of law on NGOs in eleven European countries (legal forms and purposes;
establishment and registration; and external supervision). The article concludes emphasizing on present diversity and difficulties to harmonize the legal map of NGOs.
