The author proposes a reading of the concluding document of Aparecida from a theological-pastoral perspective, emphasizing the question of the mission as a transverse topic. Taking this matter as a starting point, firstly he wonders what is the meaning of the Church being in a new period of history, and secondly he shows how the theological and pastoral contents are revitalized starting from the transverse topic of the mission. This occurs with the Holy Trinity and the Church, but also with history, culture, popular religiosity and the choice for the poor. All these considerations lead to a restatement of the perspectives and challenges for the Latin American Church concerning the evangelization of the continent
