    El análisis que aquí se expone constituye una primera aproximación descriptiva de la incidencia de diversos factores sobre el gasto hospitalario en la OCDE en el período 1960-1985. En particular, se analiza la influencia de los siguientes factores: la estructura demográfica, los precios de los inputs, la utilización de los servicios y la intensidad de los inputs. Los resultados obtenidos se utilizan para contrastar las teorías sobre la "inflación" hospitalaria, poniendo especial énfasis en el papel que desempeña la tecnología en este sector.

    Growth and Intlation in the hospital sector: OECD, 1960-1985.

    The analysis presented in this paper constitutes a first step towards the identification of the incidence of the difierent factors that affected hospital costs in the period 1960-1985. In particular, is analized the influence of the following factors: the demographic structure, the price of the inputs, the use of services and input intensity. The obtained results are used to contrast the theories on hospital "inflation", making an special emphasis on the role played by the technology in this sector.
