Apuntes sobre terminología gramatical

    To stablish a rigurous terminology is one of the objectives of all sciences, including linguistics. In order to expound the problems arising from this task, we have chosen two terms that we consider particularly significant: `sintagma' and `frase'. A bibliographical review allows us to point out the divergences observed in the studies of some of the authors who dealt with this matter. On the one hand, it can be observed that the use of `frase' is defended from two different methodological points of view -structural grammar and generative grammar- to substitute the interpretation of `sintagma' -increasingly widespread- in a more limited sense than that one given by its creator, Saussure. On the other, the polysemy of the term `frase' with quite often equivalent meanings to sentence is to be noted.

    Assolir una fixació rigorosa de la terminologia és una de les fites que caracteritza totes les ciències, entre elles la lingüística. Per tal d'exposar un dels múltiples problemes que apareixen en aquesta tasca, hem triat dos termes especialment significatius, al nostre entendre: sintagma i frase. Una revisió bibliogràfica ens permet mostrar les divergències que s'observen en els treballs d'alguns dels autors que han tractat aquesta qüestió. Per una banda es pot comprovar com, des de dues perspectives metodològiques diverses -l'estructuralisme i el generativisme-, es reivindica la utilització de frase a fi de substituir la interpretació -cada cop més estesa- de sintagma en un sentit més restringit que el que li atorgava el seu creador, Saussure. Per l'altra, cal constatar la polisèmia del terme frase amb sentits equivalents, molt sovint, al d'oració.
