    La escasez de materiales relativos a la práctica de la música en España a lo largo del siglo xv dificulta la tarea de trazar la frontera entre la música propia de fines de la Edad Media y aquella otra característica del primer Renacimiento. Por fortuna la Crónica del Condestable Lucas de Iranzo aporta datos relativos a la práctica musical en el reino de Castilla en el tercer cuarto del siglo xv que ayudan a la resolución del problema.

    The scarcity of materials relating to the practice of music in Spain throughout the fifteenth century hinders the task of drawing a line between music properly pertaining to the end of the Middle Ages and that characteristic of the early Renaissance. Fortunately, Lord High Constable Lucas de Iranzo's chronicle provides information relating to musical practice in the kingdom of Castile during the third quarter of the fifteenth century which helps to resolve this problem.
