Teresa Isabel Jiménez Gutiérrez, David Moreno Ruiz, Sergio Murgui Pérez, Gonzalo Musitu Ochoa

  • The present study aims to analyse the relationship between particular psychosocial school factors and students social acceptation in the classroom. Specifically, we analyse the role of non-conformist reputation, friendship between classmates, violent behaviour and quality relationship with the teacher. The sample is composed of 1319 adolescents of both sexes and aged from 11 to 16 years old. Statistical analyses were carried out using structural equation modelling. Results obtained indicate a close association between non-conformist reputation and level of friendship in classroom with violent behaviour. Moreover, data suggest that this violent behaviour influences teachers expectations about students, which in turn is closely and directly related to social acceptation in the classroom. Finally, these findings and its implications are discussed based on previous research.
