A veinticinco años de la Guerra de Malvinas (2 de abril a 14 de junio de 1982), se hace necesario retomar el tema desde una mirada actual. El presente trabajo está orientado a analizar la importancia histórica de la "cuestión Malvinas" en la política exterior argentina. Por razones de espacio, se ha elegido realizar un breve análisis de la fase final de la última dictadura y de las motivaciones que habrían desembocado en la guerra que se desarrolló entre el 2 de abril y 14 de junio de 1982. Asimismo, se analiza el retorno democrático y los desafíos que enfrentó el presidente Raúl R. Alfonsín, que se encontró con una Argentina aislada de los principales centros de poder económico y político. El gobierno de Carlos S. Menem aplicó "la política de seducción" con los kelpers, colocando un "paraguas" sobre (congelando) el debate acerca de la soberanía de Ias islas. En la actualidad, hay un notorio giro en la manera de encarar el irrenunciable reclamo argentino en los foros internacionales, lo cual también ha despertado polémicas acerca de cómo debe encararse la política exterior en un nuevo escenario internacional.

Twenty five years after the Malvinas war (April 2nd ¿ June 14th, 1982), it is necessary to take a look at the problem from a contemporary point of view. This work is aimed to analyze the historical importance of the "Malvinas issue" within the foreign argentine policy. Due to space, this analysis will be dedicated to the last period of the latest dictatorship and to the causes of the war, which took place between April 2nd and June 14th 1982. The return of the democracy and the challenges faced by President Raúl R. Alfonsín are also analyzed, in the context of an Argentina that was isolated from the main economic and politic power centres. Carlos S. Menem's government, supported a "seduction policy" towards the kelper population, and held an "umbrella" above the debate on the islands' sovereignty, freezing it. At the present time, there is a notorious twist in the way the Argentinean inalienable demand is handled in the international forum, which has also provoked controversies regarding the proper way of dealing the foreign policy within a new international scenario.
