  • The Ugaritic text RS 94.2953 found in Urtenu's house has to our surprise afforded a syllabic version of one of the best known motives of Baal's mythology, that of the building of a window in his heavenly palace to be carried out by the god Kothar. In this new text is the god, under the name of Ea, who charges somebody else to carry out the enterprise. The mythological nature of the motive and the formal genre of the text, an oracle, so scarcely documented at Ugarit, enhance the significance of this text.
