La autora analiza su conversión en documentalista y la evolución de su obra en función del desvelamiento de un trauma silenciado durante años (el incesto sufrido siendo una niña) y que gracias al arte pudo exhorcizar. El recorrido parte desde el recuerdo reprimido a la primera elaboración de su historia personal en el lenguaje abstracto de sus primeras obras —que le permitieron hablar de experiencias traumáticas similares sin mencionara la suya propia— hasta llegar a la integración de su trauma en unas obras cuya narrativa permite integrar el doloroso recuerdo, lo ordena y convierte en familiar.
The writer examines the path she followed in becoming a documentary filmmaker and explains how her work has evolved hand-in-hand with coming to terms with a childhood trauma which she kept silent about for years (as a child she had been a victim of incest). Her journey starts with the repressed memory which she was able to initially express through the abstract films of her early work. These early works created a venue for speaking about the traumatic experiences of others while avoiding mention of her own. Finally, embedding her ordeal within a structured narrative at last opened the door for her to speak about her own traumatic experiences.
