In France, the commodification of education raises a number of questions regarding the conception of the school system as a public service that should be provided by the state. Competition, autonomy, competitiveness and performance on the job market are all approaches whose controlled introduction into the school system requires a transformation in the very understanding of the public service.

La marchandisation de l’éducation suscite aujourd’hui, en France, des questions liées à la conception de l’appareil éducatif comme service public et de ce service public comme service d’État. Concurrence, autonomie, compétitivité, employabilité : autant de perspectives dont l’introduction raisonnée dans le système d’éducation requiert une transformation de la représentation même du service public.
