Resumen de Adaptación al castellano de la escala para la evaluación de la soledad social y emocional en adultos SESLA-S

Sagrario Yárnoz Yaben

  • This paper presents the Spanish version of the SESLA-S (Social and Emotional Loneliness Scale for Adults), a short instrument for the evaluation of the subjective experience of loneliness (social, familiar and romantic). Data were collected via self-report measures from five different samples composed of university students, general population, psychiatric patients and divorced people. A total of 517 individuals took part in this study. Like in the original English version, three factors were found in the instrument, corresponding to the three scales: social loneliness, familiar loneliness and romantic loneliness. Our results show that these scales have a high internal consistency. Construct (convergent and discriminant) validity was supported by correlations with measures of intimate relationships (attachment style) and by the association of the scales to measures of psychological well-being and social desirability.
