Resumen de Esclavitud y diplomacia en la carta LXXIV de Plinio el Joven: ¿sumisión o resistencia?

Se analiza en este artículo la carta 74ª de Plinio el Joven dirigida al emperador Trajano con el objetivo de estudiar las posibles relaciones diplomáticas entre dacios y partos, y la actitud de sumisión o resistencia por parte de un esclavo que se ve reflejada en la carta. El análisis se realiza en torno a tres posibilidades:
que el testimonio de Plinio fuera cierto y la historia que recoge también fuera cierta; que el testimonio de Plinio fuera cierto, pero la historia que recoge fuera una invención; y que el testimonio de Plinio no fuera cierto, sino una invención propia.
En este último caso, la carta serviría también como un ejemplo más de la concepción que tenía Plinio de la esclavitud.

It is analyzed in this article the 74th letter of Pliny the Younger directed to the emperor Trajan with the objective to study the possible diplomatic relations between Dacians and Parthians, and the attitude of submission or resistance on the part of a slave that is seen reflected in the letter. The analysis is carried out around three possibilities: that the testimony of Pliny was certain and the history that collects was also certain; that the testimony of Pliny was certain but the history that collects was an invention; and that the testimony of Pliny was not certain, but an own invention. In this last case the letter would serve also as an example more about the conception that had Pliny of the slavery.
