Around 1.500 to 1.800 million tonnes of crude oil and over 400 to 500 millions of tonnes of refined oils ; are transported across the sea every year on board tanker ships. Europe is a great consumer of those commodities, receiving up to 500 millions of crude oil tonnes and around 250 to 300 million of refined products tonne per year. This means that EU needs about 6000 freights per year in order to covr the crude oil demand, carried out by between 155 to 2000 tanker ships. This paper is going to analyse the residues generation coming from such exchanges in the Spanish waters.
