    • Aena GBAS Programme is positioned withn a multi-layered strategy for its operative implementation in the ANS network. This is due to the fact thath the evolution of the equipment will be realised overtimeand the need to accommodate the implementation of new systems and operational procedures to ensure a smooth transition and service provision.

      Therefore, Aena us developing the GBAS Programme within a harmonized iniciative through European and other worldwide ANPs that is being co-ordinated under the common strategy for operational validation of the new GBAS CAT I systems.

      With respect to infrastructure deployment at a national level a contract for the development of a GBAS CAT I system at Malaga Airport is progressing in a stepped strategy towards a certifiable CAT I system aroung the end of 2008. The presentation will cover this strategy, explaining the different steps towards the final product.

      In parallel, Aena is currently preparing a GNSS experimental aircraft with new certified multimode receiver and new tools for the onboard bench, in order to be able to perform GBAS SIS validation trials before implementation.
