Resumen de En torno al "Bergfilm" de la República de Weimar

Irmbert Schenk

  • This article revises a stereotypical conception of the German Bergfilm. This conception leads one to believe that by emphasizing the irrational and mystifying nature, these films represented a way of thinking upon which the National Socialist ideology thrived.

New thesis: The nature shots on high mountains –never before attempted in film history, together with sport performances by amateur actors, brought about these films’ great success (thereby questioning the conception stated above). These movies captured the central moments of modernity and the contradictory feelings about life reigning in the 20s.

Consequently, they are characterized by an ideological ambivalence going far beyond that of the New objectivity.
