    En el presente artículo analizamos la aportación de Luis Diego Cuscoy al estudio del poblamiento prehistórico de Canarias. Para ello hemos tenido en cuenta la vinculación del autor con la Arqueología oficial o franquista, así como el marco teórico y metodológico en que se desarrollaron sus trabajos. La aproximación al estudio de este tema nos permite sacar a relucir, igualmente, la estrecha relación que existe entre política y arqueología y, por ende, entre el poder y la generación del conocimiento científico.

    This paper analyzes the contribution of Luis Diego Cuscoy to the study of the prehistoric colonization of the Canaries. When approaching to this topic we have taken into consideration the author’s linking to the Official Archaeology, developed during Franco’s regime, as well as the theoretical and methodological frame of reference in which his works were developed. The study of this topic let us insist in the narrow relationship that exists between politics and archaeology and, therefore, between power and the generation of scientific knowledge.
