    • Somet castle is located in the municipal term of Carenas (Zaragoza), in the confluence of the rivers Piedra and Mesa, that today constitute the Tranquera swamp. It was considered as one of the 16 most important castles of the Kingdom of Aragon, having a castral territory of around 600 Km 2. Arabs sources mention the hisn of Sumit as a fortress belonging to the Tuyibies, Yemenite Arabs that had preponderance from the 9th century with emirs and calips of Cordoba, reaching relevant places with Almanzor and whose control arrives until Taifas kingdom era. After the Aragonese Reconquest of Alphonso I of Aragon, more known as the Batallador, Somet castle was donated the powerful Alagon family. In 1265 Jaime I of Aragon usurped the castle to Blasco de Alagon, going on to form a part of the Crown of Aragon, who would keep it in current until 1407. Sold by the Crown it went back to the nobility, acquiring in Gonzalo de Liñan, who sold it to the Justice of Aragon Martin Diez of Aux, to whom the castle would be confiscated ehwn tryng to proclaim the justiciazgo immunity.
