El autor del texto y arquitecto de la intervención relata el proceso de demolición de la bóveda barroca del ábside de la catedral de Valencia para la recuperación de los magníficos frescos renacentistas pintados sobre la bóveda gótica que se encontraban ocultos tras la misma. Este proceso no sólo tuvo que superar las dificultades técnicas derivadas de la compleja operación, sino tambien persuadir o soslayar a la facción contraria del debate abierto en torno a la intervención, sortear con éxito los impedimentos legales que derivaban de la protección integral del templo como Bien de Interés Cultural y resolver las extrañas incongruencias espaciotemporales y estilísticas que surgieron durante la demolición.

Restoration of the gothic vault in the apse of Valencia Cathedral. The author of the text and architect in charge of the restoration gives an account of the demolition process of the Baroque vault over the apse of Valencia cathedral in order to restore the magnificent frescoes painted on the Gothic vault concealed beneath it. This process not only came up against technical difficulties arising from the complex operation required but also involved persuading or overcoming the opposition of a group of people who were against the intervention, getting around the legal difficulties dereving from the integral protection of the temle as an Asset of Cultural Interest and solving the strange incongruent factors connected with time, space and style that arose during the demolition process.
