Resumen de Comer antes que viajar, pesca y barcas de base monóxila en la prehistoria occidental

En este artículo analizamos las primeras pruebas arqueológicas de la pesca, tanto en aguas continentales, como en el mar. Aunque la conservación de las evidencias directas es siempre muy difícil, debido a la naturaleza perecedera de los materiales empleados en estas actividades de subsistencia, sus orígenes se remontan, como mínimo, al periodo Solutrense. Durante el Mesolítico la cantidad y calidad de la información aumenta de forma considerable. Estas actividades de subsistencia van necesariamente ligadas a los orígenes y desarrollo de las primeras embarcaciones. Uno de cuyos arquetipos –canoas monóxilas– será estudiado ahora. Sus restos arqueológicos son numerosos e importantes desde el Mesolítico. Durante el Neolítico este tipo de canoas darán lugar a barcas más complejas, con los costados de tablas, así como catamaranes.

In this paper, we analyse the first archaeological evidence of fishing, both in continental waters and in the sea. Although it is always very difficult to conserve direct evidence, given the perishable nature of the materials used in these subsistence activities, the origins of fishing date back to the Solutrean period at the very least. Information increases substantially during the Mesolithic Age, both quantitatively and qualitatively. These subsistence activities are necessarily tied in with the origins and development of the first sailing vessels, and one archetype –logboats– will be studied now. There are numerous, important archaeological remains of this type of vessel from the Mesolithic Age. During the Neolithic Age, this type of canoes gave way to more complex ones, with boats with planked sides and catamarans.
