    En 1873, Emily Keene, una joven inglesa, decide casarse con una importante personalidad marroquí jefe de una influyente cofradía (Zauya Uazzanya), Sidi Abdeslam, Gran Cherif de Uezzan. Permanecerá con él toda su vida, le dará dos hijos y será enterrada en Marruecos. En su autobiografía, cuyo titulo es Historia de mi vida, publicado en 1911, nos ha dejado un trascendente testimonio sobre su marido y sobre la sociedad marroquí de finales del siglo XIX e inicios del siglo XX. Proponemos analizar en este artículo su mirada sobre su esposo y, por otro lado, sobre la sociedad indígena de esta época.

    In 1873, Emily Keene, a young English woman, decided to marry an important Moroccan figure, chief of an influential brotherhood (Wazzanya Zawya), Sidi Abdeslam, the Grand Cherif of Wazzane. She remained with him all her life, gave him two sons and after her death was buried in Morocco. In her autobiography My life story, published on 1911, she left an important testimony about her husband and the Moroccan society at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. In this paper we aim to analyze her views on her husband and the native society at her time.

    En 1873, Emily Keene, une jeune Anglaise, décide d’épouser à Tanger une importante personnalité marocaine, chef d’une influente confrérie (la Zaouya ouazzaniya), Sidi Abdeslam, le Grand Chérif d’Ouezzane. Elle restera avec lui toute sa vie, lui donnera deux enfants et sera enterrée au Maroc. Dans son récit de vie, intitulé Histoire de ma vie, publié en 1911, elle nous a laissé un important témoignage sur son mari et sur la société marocaine de la fin du XIXème et le début du XXème siècles. C’est son regard sur son époux d’une part et sur la société autochtone à cette époque que nous analysons dans cet article.
