    In 1907, a group of people with a great, ambitious and universalistic spirit spearheaded the creation of l'institut d'Estudis Catalans, envisioning a modern, progress-oriented country. All those pioneers acted with the conviction that Catalan nationalism was not merely a tool to champion political claims, but that it also had to leave its modernising mark on society, and not just on industrialisation and political autonomy. That generation of Noucentisme managed to make the IEC an Academy aspiring to the pinnacle of science and knowledge. A forward-looking attitude that would lead to the creation of the Meteorological Service of Catalonia, the Library of Catalonia and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, or to the recovery of Catalan Romanesque art, without forgetting, naturally, the lexical regulation of our language. On the occasion of its centennial, in this article its chairman recaps on the most important landmarks in its history, up until the Institute as it is today, a pivotal part of academic life with twenty-seven subsidiaries and more than eight thousand five hundred members from all areas of Catalan language and culture.

    L'autor enceta l'article situant la filosofia personalista de Karol Wojtyla en un ampli context historic, a partir de la seva experiència intelectual propia (que abraça figures com ara Maritain, Mounier, Lacroix i molts d'altres), tot diferenciant entre les "filosofies de la persona" i el "personalisme dialògic". Aquesta diferència no és pas una qüestió menor, sine) que esdevé essencial a mesura que avança en els seus raonaments. Analitzant el paper que diversos autors donen a questions més aviat socials i politiques, o també espirituais, s'arriba al plantejament inicial sobre l'obra del filòsof Wojtyla: la seva antropologia filosòfica és pròpiament personalista o bé només és una filosofia de la persona? A partir d'una acurada anàlisi de la seva obra filosòfica principal, l'exposició se centra en la restricció metodológica que va adoptar i en els seus resultats més immediats, sense oblidar, tampoc, documents editats durant el seu pontificat.
