According to modems interpreters, there are two differents accounts of the doctrine of predicables in Aristotle's Topics: the exclusive and the inclusive one. The shift between these two accounts it is generally explained with genetic criteria. This paper shows that not all the contradictions found between book A of Topics and its central books are real, and gives a non genetic explanatión of the authentic incoherences. It is also shown that in the whole text of Topics there is no trace of an inclusive account of genus.
