    The ten years of dói mói (renewal policy), which started in 1986, marked an important tuming point in the contemporary history of Vietnam. Thanks to this policy, the country has been able to overcome the economic crisis, control inflation, stabilize the macro-economy and achieve the highest and most sustainable economic growth since the end of the war in 1975. Thanks also to the liberation of its economy, Vietnam has also managed to break out of the encirclement of the economic embargo and become integrated into the world economy. For the first four years, it relied on its own intellectual and material resources. Now the main challenges are : to build upa market economy and perfect it, to increase the effectiveness ofthe State machinery, and to train people to work in the new conditions. The evolution ofrenewal policy, as well as its effects on the Vietnamese economy and society, should be analyzed in the context of national management with a socialist orientation

    Les dix années de dói mói (politique de rénovation) qui ont commencé en 1986 marquen! un tournant importan! dans l 'histoire contemporaine du Vietnam. Le pays a pu, grace a lui, surmonter la crise économique, juguler l 'inflation, stabiliser la macroéconomie et atteindre la croissance économique la plus élevéc et la plus durable depuis la fin de la guerre en 1975. Grace a la libération de son économie, le Vietnam a aussi réussi a briser l'encerclement de ('embargo économique et s'est intégré dans l'économie mondiale. Pendant les quatre premieres années, il n'a compté que sur ses propres ressources intcllectuelles et matérielles. Aujourd'hui, ses principaux défis sont : édifier et perfectionner le régime de l'économie de marché, augmenter l'efficacité de l 'appareil d'État et former les travailleurs aux conditions nouvelles.
