Las grandes instalaciones científicas son parte esencial de la infraestructura científica de los países desarrollados. Entre ellas se pueden distinguir las que en inglés se denominan «Large Scale Facilities» o instalaciones de servicios a gran escala. El autor se centra en las fuentes de luz de sincrotrón para argumentar el peso específico de este tipo de instalaciones para el desarrollo científico y tecnológico español. = Large scientific facilities are vital elements of the scientific infrastructure in developed countries. Among these, the so-called «large scale facilities» hold a relevant position. The author focuses on the sources of light for the synchrotron and refers to the specific position this type of facility holds in the scientific and technologic system.
