  • Guadacorte woods and their surrounds, the only wooded area in the central and eastern sectors of the Bay of Gibraltar, with its varied and interesting botanical diversity, provides numerous ecological niches for a rich vertebrate fauna.

    Its whole extent falís within one property whose owners played a very important part in the creation and consevation of the series of vegetation types that exist today. As far back as 1930 a pioneering study by Ceballos and Martin Bolanos on thw woodland vegetation of Cadiz Province mentions Guadacorte's original owners who converted the surroundings of the Palacio into a botanical garden growing speciesfíom many parts of the world.
