Coin circulation in the territory of Carpetania (modern provinces of Madrid and eastern Toledo) provides useful information on economy and Romanization. This article examines, first, the circulation of coins from the Carpetanian mints of Complutum and Toletum, and second, the distribution of various Greek, Iberian and Roman coin issues in Carpetania. The abundant presence of coins from the Ebro valley, and the absence of coins from Baetica, reflects currents of trade and communication.
