En este ensayo se explica de qué forma ha incidido, en la primera mitad del siglo xx, el sistema político colombiano en el rezago del Caribe colombiano. Tal ejercicio reflexivo se presenta en tres partes: en la primera se esboza la lenta evolución del sistema político colombiano en ese período; en la segunda se registra la incuestionable realidad del fracaso económico regional; y en la tercera se intenta asociar ese rezago regional en el período con el funcionamiento de la política.

The purpose of this essay is to explain how Colombian political structure in the first half of the twentieth century, might have impinged upon the backwardness of this country¿s Caribbean Coast region. This text is presented in three parts: in the first one it is described the slow development of Colombian political structure during this period; in the second one it is evidenced the indubitable economical failure in this region and in the third one it is intended to associate the regional backwardness with how politics work.
