Resumen de Utilizaçao de dous modelos nao-lineares no estudo da curva de crescimento de tourinhos pampa chaqueño no Paraguay

  In this study, 4004 weight records from 308 Pampa Chaqueño young bulls were analyzed. The young bulls. The records studied were obtained starting from seven weight proofs accomplished initially in the origin farms and later in the headquarters of tests. Then weights were observed at the testing center at approximately 376 days (P3), and repeatedly every 28 days until approximately 660 days of age (P13). The objectives of this study were to estimate the growth curve parameters and to determinate the weight predictions on the days of observation, per test year, through two non-linear models. Considering the number of convergences and the estimation of the A, K and R2 parameters, the Logistic model was the most satisfactory. The test year did not influence the estimation of the A parameter in the Gompertz model, but it did affect the Logistic function and the estimation of the K parameter in both models. Both models studied did not fit to the weights in the animals" early stages, but represented well the growth curve between 10 and 20 months of age. Weight observations at more advanced ages would be necessary in order to obtain more precision of fit in the asymptotic weight models studied

  Foram analisados 4004 dados de pesagens, provenientes de 308 tourinhos Pampa Chaqueño, criados na região ocidental do Paraguai. Os dados estudados foram obtidos a partir de sete provas de peso realizadas inicialmente nas fazendas de origem e depois na central de testes. Os objetivos do trabalho foram estimar parâmetros da curva de crescimento e determinar as predições de peso nas datas de cada observação, por ano de prova, através de dois modelos não-lineares. Atendendo ao número de convergências e às estimações dos parâmetros A, K e R2, o modelo Logístico foi o mais indicado para avaliação da curva de crescimento de tourinhos Pampa Chaqueño. O ano de prova não influenciou a estimação do parâmetro A, para o modelo de Gompertz, mas afetou para a função Logística e a estimação do parâmetro K, em ambos os modelos. Os dois modelos estudados não se ajustaram aos pesos nas fases iniciais dos animais (ao nascer e a desmama), mas representaram bem a curva de crescimento entre 10 e 20 meses de idade. Serão necessárias observações de peso a idades superiores às analisadas para poder se obter maior precisão no ajuste dos modelos avaliados nos pesos assintótico
