Resumen de Un nuevo tipo de proteccionismo: o el retorno del permiso previo
During 2005-2006 the goods under previous license regime for imports to Mexico represented around 10 percent of the total, which compares to previous levels of 2.2% one decade before or 5 to 6% in 2003-2004. This situation could reveal some preference from economic policy doers of returning to old instruments of commercial policies that years ago were left aside, aiming towards a new type of protectionism. The paper analyzes six aggregated groups of products subject to direct control of imports concluding that, in effect, the licenses are a new form of protection different from those applied before the 80's and its intentions would be protecting some interests of doubtful legitimacy.
