In the long history of men and ideas from the origins to scientific Chemistry, we focus on the critical period, lasting three centuries, in which Alchemy dies and from its remains Chemistry arises as a positive science. The appearance of Iatrochemistry already meant a cooperation with Medicine, but only truly scientific Chemistry could lead to the success of modern therapeutics. Reaching this point required the slow development of the founding ideas during the historical period discussed in this presentation.
