    Se deja de comer por infinitos motivos. Si se hace voluntariamente, el ayunador, en este caso la ayunadora, llevará a cabo un acto de renuncia que traerá consigo una carga de significación extrema. Esta será determinada por la ubicación que se le dé (se le permita) al cuerpo famélico / enfermo en el tejido social, ya que como ha quedado sobradamente de manifiesto, el estatuto de una enfermedad es generado y significado por la relación tensional entre la institución médica y la colectividad. Así es como la literatura se convierte una vez más en un juego: la representación de las representaciones. Y así es como se estructura este trabajo, como una panorámica de la presencia del ayuno en la novela o en la poesía.
