  El presente trabajo contiene una visión panorámica del proceso histórico de las primeras escuelas normales en el Perú, particularmente de Lima y Trujillo, desde el intento de 1822, al comenzar la vida independiente, hasta las principales experiencias de los siglos XIX y XX. Pone de manifiesto las aspiraciones y realizaciones, los avances y retrocesos de diversos gobiernos de ambas centurias, así como la diferencia entre lo ideal, dispuesto por las normas legales, y lo real, impuesto por las circunstancias políticas y económicas que impidieron o dificultaron sacar adelante las instituciones destinadas a la formación de normalistas. La fundación y cierre de estas escuelas fueron frecuentes; unas murieron al nacer, otras realizaron labor fugaz. La Escuela Normal de Varones fundada en 1905 es una experiencia diferente a las anteriores. Y por su parte la Escuela Normal de Mujeres creada en 1876 corrió mejor suerte y continuó en el siglo XX.

  This work presents a panoramic view about the historical process of the first pedagogic schools in Peru, particularly in Lima and Trujillo, starting from the 1822 attempt at the beginning of the independent life up to the main experiences during the 19th and 20th centuries. It clearly states the aspirations and achievements, the developments and drawbacks of different governments in both centuries; as well as the difference between the ideal, established by the legal norms, and the real, imposed by the political and economic circumstances that hindered and interfered with the initiatives of developing the institutions devoted to teachers. formation. The foundation and closing of the schools were so frequent that some of them died just after being born, others developed a very brief work. Nevertheless, the pedagogic schools of men, founded in 1905 represents a different experience from the previous ones. As for the pedagogic school of women, founded in 1876, this was more successful and survived up to the 20th century.
