Real Patronato de las Hurdes (1922-1931): una institución de beneficiencia al servicio de las Hurdes

    En el mes de junio de 1922, SM. el Rey D. Alfonso XIII realizó un viaje a la comarca de Las Hurdes para comprobar de primera mano las paupérrimas condiciones de existencia de los habitantes de esta región, confiando a un grupo de hombres la tarea de procurar la regeneración de la comarca a través de la creación del Real Patronato de Las Hurdes, una institución de Beneficencia destinada a remediar la situación material, social y moral en que se encontraba la zona por estar al margen de la preocupación gubernamental del momento. Realizó su labor entre los años 1922 y 1931. Posteriormente a estas fechas, los nuevos gobiernos establecidos cambiaron la denominación de esta Institución, pasándose a llamar Patronato Nacional de Las Hurdes, siguiendo con los mismos preceptos que los estipulados para el anterior.

    On the month of June of 1922, SM. King D. Alfonso XIII made a trip to the region of Las Hurdes. To verify of first hand the very poor conditions of existence of the inhabitants of this region, trusting to a group of men the task of trying the regeneration of the region through the creation of the Real Patronage of Las Hurdes; an institution of Charity destined to remedy the material, social and moral situation, in which was the zone to be the margin of the governmental preoccupation of the moment. He made his work between years 1922 and 1931. Later now, the new established governments changed the denomination of this institution, going to call National Patronage of the Hurdes such, following with rules that the stipulated ones for the previous one.
