    The name aphenos and the derived adjective apheiós, used especially in epic poetry, express the kind of wealth peculiar to this world, a prestigious wealth which marks the social status of the characters, as shown by the uses in the glorifying introduction of well-known or unknown characters, and by the associations with words like agathós or timé.
