Resumen de La voz Bibliografía en la Enciclopedia Universal Ilustrada Hispanoamericana de Espasa

La enciclopedia Espasa constituyó la mayor iniciativa editorial española en torno a la publicación de una obra de referencia que recogiera en sus páginas la evolución científica hasta el momento a través del estudio de las diversas materias por parte de especialistas y eruditos. La voz Bibliografía se trató como objeto de es-tudio entre las materias científicas seleccionadas por los editores de la obra, consti-tuyendo desde las páginas de la misma un excelente punto de partida para contextua-lizar la evolución de la ciencia y las aportaciones de Otlet, La Fontaine y el Insituto Internacional de Bibliografía y su influencia en la cultura documental española del primer tercio del siglo XX. Se analiza el artículo por su contenido y también como fuente de información de primera mano sobre la utilización de la bibliografía como instrumento de enriquecimiento de las páginas del Espasa.

At the beginning of the twentieth century the Espasa encyclopedia launched the most important Spanish editorial initiative regarding the publication of some reference work which has thrown light upon the general scientific evolution of the sciences up to the present time, through the study of said sciences by the differ-ent scholars. The BIBLIOGRAFIA headword was one of the selected subjects and proved to be an excellent starting point to inchoate the joint effort of the evolution of science and the Otlet, La Fontaine and the International Institute of Bibliography contributions, as well as their influence upon the birth of the documentation science in Spain. The BIBLIOGRAFIA headword contents as well as its resources as a first hand information tool are analysed.
