    El objetivo del artículo que presentamos a continuación tiene un carácter diacrónico, pues intenta mostrar la historia de la revista Investigaciones Geográficas editada por el Instituto Universitario de Geografía de la Universidad de Alicante, a través de los datos que nos aportan sus dieciséis años de vida (1983-1998). Estructurado en cuatro apartados, muestra primeramente una introducción acerca de la publicación y unas reflexiones sobre la importancia de los estudios bibliométricos, a continuación ofrecemos un bloque de análisis sobre los datos relacionados con los autores, para pasar en un tercero a comentar las características de sus artículos y terminar ofreciendo unas conclusiones.

    The following article has a diachronic nature, since it aims to show the history of the Investigaciones Geográficas review, which is published by the Instituto Universitario de Geografia of the University of Alacant, by means of the information produced during its sixteen years of life (1983-1998). The article is structured in four parts and it shows in the first one an introduction abuout the review and some reflections on the importance of the bibliometric studies. Then, it follows vith an analysis on the information related to the authors. The caracteristics of the article are commented in the third part and some conclusions are offered in the last one.
