Resumen de Roman inachevé ou roman perpetuel?: "Leucippé et Clitophon" d'Achille Tatius

This paper aims at showing that the ending of Achilles Tatius' novel is intentionally unsatisfactory because it is not so much an ending as a transition towards new adventures or narratives, for which the novelist gives a few indications in the last lines of the novel or from its structure. Moreover this incompletion is echoed in the first book, which includes several beginnings, so that the reader doesn't know neither where the novel has begun nor when it will come to an end.

Le but de cette étude est de montrer que la fin du roman d'Achille Tatius est, à dessein, insatisfaisante, parce qu'il s'agit moins d'une fin que d'une transition vers de nouveaux épisodes ou de nouveaux récits, dont le romancier donne quelques indices dans les dernières lignes du roman ou que la structure du roman laisse supposer. A l'inachevement délibéré correspond en outre le caractère indéterminé du début du roman, qui comprend plusieurs commencements. Le lecteur, des lors, ne sait pus ou le roman a commencé ni quand il va se terminer.
