This study examines the music education curricular choices of three families who homeschool in the greater Phoenix area. While each family was intentionally including music as a part of their homeschool curriculum, the method and means of doing so varied. The parents¿ fundamental philosophy of education, their belief in the value of music education, and their own prior experiences in music learning and performance affected their choices. This exploratory study recommends that the music education professional should consider the unique position of the parent as teacher and administrator as well as the individualistic nature of the home setting in providing music instruction.
