    El proceso de comercialización de los productos agropecuarios en nuestro país y en nuestra región tiene grandes deficiencias que ocasionan el encarecimiento de éstos al consumidor. El cultivo de tomate (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.), no escapa de esta realidad, y es uno de los productos más explotados en nuestra comarca, con la consecuente derrama económica que ocasiona. Este trabajo se realizó con el objetivo de analizar el comportamiento de dicha hortaliza tanto en su tipo bola como saladette, en lo referente al precio de venta del mismo, y se revisaron los indicadores regionales en lo que respecta a superficies sembradas y su costo de producción, a fin de analizar los índices de rentabilidad de la misma, considerando que este tipo de trabajo plantea un tipo de investigación descriptiva con carácter de diagnóstico. Las fuentes de información fueron periódicos, revistas y anuarios estadísticos, comprendiendo el período de 1994 al 2004.

    The marketing procedure of farming products in our country and in our region has high deficiencies that cause an increment in price of these for the consumer. Tomato cultivation (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill), do not escape of this reality, and is one of the most exploited products in our region, with the consequent economical benefit. This work was carried out with the objective of analysing the behaviour of this vegetable in both ball and saladette type in regarding to sale price. Regional indicators about sowed area and its production cost, were analyzed, in this way the profitability indicators were determined, which were important variables in this work, so that this is considered a descriptive investigation with diagnostic characteristic. The information sources were newspapers, magazines and annual statistics covering the 1994 to 2004 period.
