  Si el filón de la fantasía heroica medieval se caracteriza por una abundante autorreferencialidad, a causa de la construcción de un mundo virtual, el encuentro de algunos grandes escritores con el Medioevo se realiza a través de ciertas contaminaciones, hibridaciones e inversiones. Pound recupera la lírica trovadoresca bajo el signo de la percepción, del nexo entre Eros y conocimiento. El Medioevo de Borges pone en escena a guerreros inmersos en el flujo de la vida y de la muerte, enfrentados -en el duelo, en el sueño- a los misterios del carácter, a los golpes del destino. En Calvino (Il cavaliere inesistente), una ironía alerta y brillante, de corte voltairiano, lo pone a cubierto de nostalgias conservadoras. Montalbán busca y mide, en la pluralidad de voces de una novela antigua, Erec y Enide, su "valor de uso", en la actualidad. Y lo hace con la confrontación, con el hibridismo, con el mestizaje. Todas estas poéticas tan diversas, presentan los materiales medievales de modo transversal, solicitando reflexiones, mediaciones, una presencia activa del "lector".

  If the source of the medieval heroic fantasy characterizes itself by an abundant autoreferentiality, due to the construction of a virtual world, the encounter of some great writers with the Medioevo is made through certain contaminations, hybridations and translocations. Pound is able to recuperate the trovadoresque lyric under the sign of the perception, of the union between Eros and the knowledge. Borges' Medioevo presents on stage warriors irnmersed in the flux of the life and death, confronted - in the sorrow, in the dream- to the mysteries of the character, to the life reverses. In Calvino (Il cavaliere inesistente), using a brilliant and alert irony following Voltaire's style, he protects himself of conservative nostalgia. Montalban looks for and measures, in the plurality of the voices of an ancient novel, Erec et Enide, its "value of use", in the actuality. And he does it with confrontation, with hybridism, with crossbreeding. All these diverse poetries, present the medieval material s in a transversal way, requesting reflections, mediations, an active presence of the "reader".
