A demonstrative plot was established with five treatments, dehydrated mud (4 and 8 t ha-1), liquid mud (8 t ha-1), urea (120 kg ha-1) and a control. The evaluated variables were: dry matter (DM), leat area (LA) and five physiological indexes. The results indicate that in the accumulation of DM and LA, the biggest effect is possible when applying 4 t ha-1 of dehydrated mud, the crop growth rate and in the leaf area duration the same effect, is achieved the net assimilation rate showed an inverse relationship, the relative growth rate diminished through the time and the smallest leaf area relationship was obtained with the application of urea.
