    Se presenta la historia de la investigación acerca de los estudios fenicios en tierras valencianas y se valora a través de tres etapas (una primera de indefinición, otra de descubrimiento y la tercera de acumulación de datos) con referencias al contexto español y europeo. Son de especial interés el modo en que los contactos culturales han sido conceptualizados en cada momento, el papel de los grupos indígenas y mediterráneos, y las referencias a la arqueología ibérica como cuerpo de estudios consolidado. El trabajo muestra una lectura crítica y, al mismo tiempo, constructiva al incluir no sólo un estado de la cuestión sino vías futuras de estudio

    Historiographic notes on the Phoenician studies in the Valencian country.The history of the research on the Phoenician studies in the Valencian country is presented in this paper through three phases (first the indefinition; second the discovery; and nowadays a data-pilephase) with their specific contributions to the Spanish and European intellectual context. The way the culture contacts have been conceptualised in each phase, the role of the indigenous andMediterranean peoples, and the references to Iberian archaeology as a body of studies are of specialinterest. The paper aims to be a critical and, at the same time, constructive review because new rese-arch trends are betrayed.
