Philip II, who had been born in Valladolid, in 1596 granted it the title of CITY.
Therefore, this year 1996 we are celebrating the City's 4th Centenary. Because of that the author thinks that it would be useful to gather the opinions and views of the English travellers who visited Valladolid in the end of XVIII and the first half of XIX centuries. Among these are such names as J. Townsend, G. Borrow, R. Ford etc. etc.
